Loewe completely took over the air in Madrid last week. With their longly awaited opening of the Casa Loewe flagship store and the opening of the “Past, Present, Future” exhibition, everyone in Madrid knew about these major events. Here’s my report of this fabulous trip.
Taking the same plane as Mademoiselle Agnès and Loïc Prigent, who also attended the event, I landed at Adolfo-Suárez Madrid-Barajas and already saw a gigantic Loewe ad about this opening. I decided to read the Jonathan Anderson’s interview for Vogue Hommes on the plane, by the way, a must-read. Driving all over Madrid, I was also impressed by the number of Loewe ads all over the city, old storefronts and closed shops. In short, you had to be a blind inhabitant of Madrid to not have noticed who, what and where.
Checking in at the Hotel Urban, a Derby Hotels Collection member, was lovely as the service was on top and the warm welcome delivery from Loewe waited already in my room. To the invitation, which was hand written of course, were added some photos from the “Past, Present, Future” exhibition.
Jacket, Trousers, Bag, Shoes – all Loewe;
The store was simply amazing. It was absolutely and contemporary, with modern elements such as LED lights, in a warm, typically Spanish color theme of yellows, golds, tans. All the product categories were present including some exclusive pieces made especially for this store, and therefore, available on made-to-order.
If you have the chance to visit Madrid before December 9th, take a visit to the Royal Botanical Garden for the “Past, Present, Future” exhibition for a huge installation of Loewe’s goods and sources inspiration. Those of yesterday, today and tomorrow. The Loewe Calendar is also presented, with the photography of the famous Steven Meisel.
